How to Add a Clinical Trial Number to an Electronic Claim
Electronic claims involving a clinical trial require the clinical trial number to be submitted in a specific location within the claim file.
The preferred method is for your billing software to send the clinical trial number in Loop 2300, REF*P4. If your billing software cannot send the value in this field, you can enter it in the claim narrative using the format described below. Claim.MD will then place the clinical trial number in the appropriate field on the outbound claim.
Requirements
The following conditions must be met for Claim.MD to identify the clinical trial number in the narrative and send it in the correct outbound field:
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Diagnosis code | The claim must include a V707 or Z006 diagnosis code. |
| Narrative entry | The clinical trial number must be entered in the claim-level narrative field. |
| Required format | Enter the clinical trial number, followed by one space and the letters CT. |
