Multi-Factor Authentication

The Multifactor Authentication section allows users to add an extra layer of security to their Claim.MD account. Users can choose between a Hardware Key and Phone / Text authentication methods using the tabs in this panel.

Hardware KeyPhone / Text

The Hardware Key tab is used to register and manage a physical security key for multifactor authentication. This option is recommended for the highest level of account security.

Fields and Elements

  • Multifactor Authentication Status
Displays whether hardware key authentication is currently enabled for the account.
  • Enter Key Name
Enter a name for the hardware key. This helps identify the key later, especially if more than one key is registered.
  • Register New Key
Click this button to begin the process of registering a new FIDO2-compatible hardware key.
TIP
FIDO2 hardware keys are supported and provide one of the strongest authentication options available for account protection. Use a descriptive key name such as Claim.MD Hardware Key or Claim.MD USB Security Key so it is easier to identify later.

The Phone / Text tab allows users to receive authentication codes by text message or phone call.

Fields and Elements

  1. Phone Number Field
Enter a direct phone number that should receive the authentication code.
  2. Delivery Method
Select whether the authentication code should be delivered by text message or phone call
  3. Activation
Complete the activation steps shown on screen to enable phone-based authentication.
  4. Verification Code
Enter the verification code sent to your device to finish setup.
NOTE
If a hardware key is enabled, the Phone / Text option is not available. If the hardware key is removed, the Phone / Text option becomes available again.
IMPORTANT
A hardware key provides the strongest level of login protection, especially against phishing attacks, and is the recommended multifactor authentication method when available.
