What does Reset API Download do in View ERA?
For accounts that retrieve Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA) through the API, the Reset API Download option in View ERA works similarly to Send to SFTP. It allows an ERA to be made available for the vendor's software to retrieve again.
When is Reset API Download available?
The Reset API Download option only appears for certain accounts based on how the vendor's software retrieves ERAs through the Claim.MD API.
Most API-integrated vendors manage ERA downloads directly within their own software. Their software determines which remittances to retrieve and can request previously available ERAs again when needed. For these accounts, Claim.MD does not need to track whether an ERA has already been downloaded, so the Reset API Download option may not appear.
A smaller number of vendors use an API download method that relies on Claim.MD to track whether an ERA has already been successfully downloaded. When Claim.MD detects that an account uses this method, Reset API Download becomes available as an action in View ERA.
What happens when I select Reset API Download?
Selecting Reset API Download marks the ERA as not yet downloaded. The next time the vendor's software requests ERAs through the API, the reset ERA will be included in the response again.
Note: Resetting the API download does not create a new ERA or change the ERA itself. It simply makes the existing ERA available for the vendor's software to retrieve again.
When should I use Reset API Download?
Use Reset API Download when an ERA is available in Claim.MD but did not populate correctly in the vendor's software, and the account uses the API download method that tracks downloaded ERAs.
- Go to View ERA.
- Locate and open the ERA that needs to be downloaded again.
- From Select Action, choose Reset API Download.
- The ERA will be marked as not yet downloaded.
- When the vendor's software next requests ERAs through the API, the ERA will be available for retrieval again.
Is Reset API Download the same as Send to SFTP?
The options serve a similar purpose but apply to different retrieval methods. Send to SFTP makes an ERA available again through an SFTP workflow, while Reset API Download makes an ERA available again for vendors using the applicable API download workflow.
