# Uploading / Creating Claims Overview

There are four ways to enter the claims into Claim.MD:

- [**Direct Data Entry**](/v1/docs/uploading-and-entering-claims-1) is located in Manage Claims page. In this method, claim information can be directly entered into a blank claim form within Claim.MD.
- [**Manually Uploading your claims**](/v1/docs/uploading-and-entering-claims) - In this method, a batch file from another system is uploaded into Claim.MD.
- [**SFTP**](/v1/docs/sftp) - This approach involves utilizing the SFTP protocol to transfer files between another system and Claim.MD for uploading and sending files.
- [**API**](/v1/docs/api) - This method uses an API tool to communicate between another system and Claim.MD to upload and send files.

SFTP stands for "Secure File Transfer Protocol" which is a secure method for transferring files between computers over a network. If this is configured correctly, this method will enable claims and ERA to be transmitted and received automatically between systems.

API stands for "Application Programming Interface". An API is a tool or tools that enable different software applications to communicate with each other. If configured correctly, systems can transmit and receive claims and ERA automatically via the API method.
