# Is there a separate API for submitting secondary claims?

**Question:** Does Claim.MD provide a separate API endpoint for sending secondary claims?

**Answer:** No. Claim.MD does not offer a separate API specifically for submitting secondary claims. Secondary claims are submitted **the same way as primary claims**, with the addition of the appropriate data from the primary claim included in the submission.

If you are submitting claims using an **837 file**, you should refer to the **X12 documentation** from x12.org for details on where and how secondary claim information must be included.

As an alternative, Claim.MD also supports additional claim file formats that may simplify secondary claim submission. These formats are documented in the **Claim Upload API**:
