# How to Enter Ordering, Rendering, Supervising Provider, and Facility at the Charge-Line Level

This article explains how to add provider and facility details to individual service lines (charges), and when to use charge-level fields versus claim-level fields.

## How do I open the charge-line fields?

**Open charge-line provider and facility fields**

1. Navigate to the claim and locate the service line you want to edit.
2. Select the charge line to focus it (or choose Edit for that line if available).

4. The charge-level sections for *Ordering*, *Rendering*, *Supervising Provider*, and *Facility* appear for that line.

## When should I use charge-level fields vs. claim-level fields?

**Charge-level vs. Claim-level: which should I choose?**

### Use *charge-level* fields when…

- Different providers are responsible for different services on the same claim.
- A supervising provider is required for only certain procedures.
- Services occurred at different facilities/locations within the claim.
- A payer’s policy specifically requires provider/facility detail at the line level.

### Use *claim-level* fields when…

- The same provider and facility apply to all services on the claim.
- You want to avoid redundant data entry across multiple identical lines.

**Common mistake to avoid** Entering provider or facility details at the claim level when payers require them per line can lead to denials or rejections. 

## Troubleshooting

**I don’t see the charge-line fields**

- Confirm you’ve selected a specific charge line .

- Check that `Show Additional Charge Fields` under the specific charge has been selected.
- Check permissions or role settings if fields remain hidden.

## Quick steps (summary)

1. Select the target charge line within the claim.
2. Click `Show Additional Charge Fields`on the correct charge line.
3. Enter the *Ordering*, *Rendering*, *Supervising Provider*, and/or *Facility* details for that line.
4. Repeat for other charge lines as needed.
