# Can I archive claims using the Claim.MD API?

**Question:** Is it possible to archive claims through the Claim.MD API, and what information is required?

**Answer:** Yes. Claims can be archived using the Claim.MD API, which is designed to communicate with Claim.MD through a custom-built application.

To use the archive functionality, you must supply **Claim.MD’s internal claim number** (sometimes referred to as “our” claim number). This value is returned with **each claim status update**, allowing you to reference the correct claim when submitting an archive request.

Without Claim.MD’s claim number, the API is unable to identify which claim should be archived.
